Day 18 - How to build a POWER BI REPORT from a flat file which is uploaded at Microsoft Teams


Now a days we have started using Microsoft Teams heavily during COVID-19 lock-down period. Usage of MS-Teams is not only limited to Meeting/Call. Now expectation of end-user is  to use flat files which are uploaded at MS-Teams to build a POWER BI Report and also make sure that changes at flat files are getting reflected in POWER BI REPORT

It's a valid request. Isn't it ??



Please follow step-by-step instructions below to create a POWER BI REPORT from a flat file which is uploaded at Microsoft Teams. Hope this helps !!!
  
Problem Statement : How to build a POWER BI REPORT from a flat file which is uploaded at Microsoft Teams

Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams and go to Files tab




Step 3: Launch Power BI Desktop and navigate to Get Data > Web > Enter “https://sites.xxyyzz.com/sites/POWERBITipsTricks/Shared%20Documents/General/state_wise.csv



Click Ok and authenticate it at Organization Account level





Step 4: Tada 🎉🎉 You are able to load data in POWER BI successfully!!!

 


Click Load. Now you can go ahead and create a visual of your choice 😊



Step 5: Publish it and search for the data-set at POWER BI Server



 Step 6: Click on highlighted icon to schedule it. A new window will pop up where you have to enter credential to access the data-set while scheduling the daily refresh job.


 Step 7: Click on 'Edit Credentials' and enter details as shown below.




 Step 8: Schedule Refresh section would get enabled ,once you 'Sign in' successfully. 
Please enter scheduling details accordingly to schedule the job !!!   



Enter requested details and click on Apply button.
